Outlook Displaying DisplayName and Email Address in reply mail after updating Outlook to 15.0.4745.1000

We recently patched out office environment and Outlook updated to version 15.0.4745.1000. Whenever a reply is sent, the previous sender and all of the recipients show below (as expected) but instead of just mail address, DisplayName and EmailAddress properties are shown. If sending to a DL, of say 70 users, this expands and shows all 70 users addresses and display names clogging up the feed - it looks like the below -

does anyone know how to ensure that outlook only shows either the mail address or the display name?

Thanks

Hi Harry,

Thank you for your question.

Did you try to use the OWA to check if the issue persist?

Did this issue occur when we send new email?

Did this issue occur before we update outlook?

By this issue, we could rebuild the outlook profile to check if the issue persist. If the recipient is external, it will display displyname and email address.

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the reply.

I have checked OWA, and yes the problem does persist.

The issue occurs when sending a new mail yes. The process is that when an email is sent, when the recipient then tries to reply the duplication occurs. Therefore as recipients are added the duplication grows and the issue occurs.

The issue did not occur before we updated Outlook, we are not able to remove the update due to our security policies.

The recipients are internal only, I will test the rebuilding of the outlook profile now.

Thanks.

Hi Harry,

We could run Get-Mailbox <User@contoso.com> | FL *DisplayName*, please make sure the value of DisplayName is User instead of User@contoso.com, then check if the issue persist.

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Best Regard,

Thanks Jim,

I can confirm that when that command is run, the DisplayName is the User and not the email address.

Do you have nay other suggestions at all? As I am wondering whether this is now the way that Outlook behaves post patch?

Thanks again.
