Outgoing Email is not working - Transaction Failed. Relay Access Denied

Hi,

This is a strange issue that i am facing now. Actually everything configured correctly in SharePoint central Admin.

i have written one sample console application to test outgoing email. but when i send mail using SharePoint, its simply thru"false" (SPUtility.SendEmail - Method). and also i tried to send using SMTP server, its simply saying that "Transaction Failed. Relay Access Denied".

Note that i have tried from different machine with this same setup "mail is working". i dont how to resolve this issue.

Any help would be really appreaciated.

I assume you are using exchange server as relay agent

Creating a Receive Connector in Exchange or any other mail server you are using

Its not a problem with mail server i guess. why because outgoing mails are working fine from other machine with the same set up.

Scenario

Machine 1 - SharePoint 2010, SQL 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008 R2 OS

We have configured the outgoing mail server address in Central Admin as "Mail Server Name1".

Mails are going from this machine.

Machine 2 - SharePoint 2010, SQL 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008 R2 OS

We have configured the outgoing mail server address in Central Admin as "Mail Server Name1".

Mails are not going from this machine.

What is the issue in the above. Anything needs to be done in the second machine. We also format and made fresh setup again.

Hi,

For a better troubleshooting, I suggest you can check the log in the mail server for more detailed information.

If your mail server is SMTP server, you can refer the article to check the log:

How To Check SMTP Logs in Windows Server (IIS)?

If you mail sever is Exchange, you can refer the article below:

Exchange 2010 logs

Thanks
