Ops DB Free space low - Database set to autogrow...
My Ops DB is set to autogrow on our remote SQL server, however I am getting a warning that the DB free space is low...Is there anything that can be done to mitigate this? Why does it not update the database size when I go to the Database state monitor
within the Microsoft SQL Server MP?
Thanks!

The recommendation is to not use auto-grow on the operations db. Also, make sure you have updated your SQL MP to the latest version - which added good support for autogrow space calculations. If the latest SQL MP is present and the disk is a
raw mount point, then this scenario is still not handled perfectly based on other forum customer input.
The reason you don't want to set the OpsDB to auto-grow is it will become fragmented. The way the DB is used is friendly to fixed sizing - and you should calculate the correct size based on the sizing guide document that is found elsewhere. Since
the DB is groomed regularly, there is a size that it should not go above for a given MP count. When you set a DB to auto-grow, it can become fragmented and queries and access times go much slower. If there are too many partitions, this becomes
increasingly noticeable.Microsoft Corporation
