Operations Console 2012 Kaput (Win7)
So for some reason the Operations Console no longer works on my workstation. Trying to launch it causes a crash in MMC: Log Name: Application Source: Application Error Date: 6/11/2012 3:21:23 PM Event ID: 1000 Task Category: (100) Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: NYITDPARISL.ad.corp.aoltw.net Description: Faulting application name: Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Monitoring.Console.exe, version: 7.0.8560.0, time stamp: 0x4f20e945 Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 6.1.7601.17651, time stamp: 0x4e21213c Exception code: 0xe0434352 Fault offset: 0x000000000000cacd Faulting process id: 0x13e4 Faulting application start time: 0x01cd4807628b5830 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\System Center Operations Manager 2012\Console\Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Monitoring.Console.exe Faulting module path: C:\windows\system32\KERNELBASE.dll Report Id: a1343615-b3fa-11e1-9cbb-d48564bff2c4 Event Xml: <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> <System> <Provider Name="Application Error" /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">1000</EventID> <Level>2</Level> <Task>100</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2012-06-11T19:21:23.000000000Z" /> <EventRecordID>36976</EventRecordID> <Channel>Application</Channel> <Computer>NYITDPARISL.ad.corp.aoltw.net</Computer> <Security /> </System> <EventData> <Data>Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Monitoring.Console.exe</Data> <Data>7.0.8560.0</Data> <Data>4f20e945</Data> <Data>KERNELBASE.dll</Data> <Data>6.1.7601.17651</Data> <Data>4e21213c</Data> <Data>e0434352</Data> <Data>000000000000cacd</Data> <Data>13e4</Data> <Data>01cd4807628b5830</Data> <Data>C:\Program Files (x86)\System Center Operations Manager 2012\Console\Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Monitoring.Console.exe</Data> <Data>C:\windows\system32\KERNELBASE.dll</Data> <Data>a1343615-b3fa-11e1-9cbb-d48564bff2c4</Data> </EventData> </Event> Problem is I tried to uninstall, and reinstall and now the option to even install Operations Console is greyed out. Only change I know of on this machine is Sharepoint Designer is installed, but that is it. Thoughts?

Operations Manager Console is not MMC. So, did you try to reinstall using msi? Try to uninstall fully console from add/remove programs (ARP) and after launch SETUP.EXE from CD -> Install Console. So, If you haven't see "System Center - Operations Manager 2012" in ARP menu then you installed console incorrectly and console will crash after launch. I don't know why, but if you try to install directly msi without setup.exe then console will crash and "System Center - Operations Manager 2012" is will not appear in ARP.

I understand it's not MMC, but it was crashing it. I did go into Program and Features and it was visible in there. Removed. Attempted reinstall, and now the Operations Console option is greyed out. I am not sure if there is still residual parts of the program still on the compter or if something is now essentially blocking the ability to install (be it an incompatibility or something else). It was originally installed from the executable. It is still giving me the ability to install the other components of SCOM, just not the operations console, on my desk. UPDATE: I thought it was removed. It's not visible in Programs and Features. However the app is still there. Still same error "enterprise MMC stopped working" when launched.

Ok. Insert DVD in DVD-Rom, open elevated cmd, run "msiexec.exe /x D:\SETUP\AMD64\CONSOLE\OMCONSOLE.MSI" for 64-bit systems or "msiexec.exe /x D:\SETUP\I386\CONSOLE\OMCONSOLE.MSI" for 32-bit systems. After it try to install again from CD via setup.exe.
