OperationsManagerDW Database is Huge
A few months ago, I upgraded from SQL Express to SQL Standard on my System Center Essentials 2007 server. I have 138 computers in this system. The Operations ManagerDW database is growing out of control. The sizes of the operations manager databases are: Operations Manager DB: 5308.69MB -> 3883 for data and 1426 for Log Operations ManagerDW DB: 34682.06MB -> 34078 for data and 605 for log I don't know why the Operations ManagerDW data is so large. I am starting to run out of diskspace. I am relatively new to SQL server and to the maintenance side of SCE. I believe that the DW database should be smaller but I am not sure why it is so big. Grooming is set for 2 days in SCE. Does grooming affect both operations manager dbs?? What can I do to get the DW database under control. Thanks in advance. Dave

I have been doing some digging and have some more information. In the DW database the Event data set is occupying about 30GB. I used a utility called dwdatarp to get this info. This is where the bulk of the information is. The are a lot of entries from 10/14/2009. There are a couple of events that individually are taking up large amounts of space in the database. How can I clean up these entries? I don't believe I need them. I am looking to keep some information on the clients but not to have years of data on each client. If I had a couple of weeks or a month of data, I would be happy. Dave

Hello Dave, If you found many entries unuseful, you can manually delete the events by using the SQL queries. Here is a similar isssue for your reference: OperationsManagerDW Database in SCE 2007 http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/systemcentermonitoring/thread/24341d67-a1e4-4e01-9fdb-561237c5f3ab/ Thanks,Yog Li -- Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
