Open with Windows Explorer not working
Hi, I'm certainly not the first that is asking this question, and I think I nearly read all posts and Microsoft's troubleshooting guide about this :/... I'm trying on different clients and all seem to have the same problem. That being the document library not opening while generating 401 2 5 errors in the IIS logs. On Windows 2003 & 2008 clients, nothing happens, it's just that error being generated. But on a Windows XP client, that error is being generated, next to the fact that an Explorer window is opening but keeps asking for credentials, which are never accepted. This leads me to believe that the problem is more fundamental since neither FPRPC nor WebDAV is working... The server is running Windows 2008 R2 x64. It's just on this one environment that Explorer view isn't working, other environments for the same site on both Windows 2003 and 2008 are working just fine... Anyone got another clue? Best regards, Sylvain

Make sure you are using 32-bit version of Internet Explorer. Also, you might want to look at this WSS 3.0 SP2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 - “Open with Windows Explorer” Failed

a long shot but just check in IIS if web dav is prohibited.

I'm using 32-bit IE and the WebDAV module is removed from that site, although, as per Microsoft's troubleshooting guide, this should not be a problem. Things get even more funny now. Apparently 2 of my colleagues are able to open Explorer view. Makes me wonder about DNS and/or proxy stuff... I'll get a sys admin to look at the network.
