Open in Windows Explorer Using SSL & IE 8
Hello All,I recently upgraded my browser to IE 8 and can not use the Open in Windows Explorer function, nor can I use previously mapped network locations when accessing a site using https and forms based authentication in our MOSS extranet. When trying to use the Open in Windows Explorer option I get a message stating "Your client does not support opening this list with Windows Explorer", and when I try to access via my network locations, I am prompted with "Access Denied. Before opening files in this location, you must first add the web site to your trusted list, browse to the web site and select the option to login automatically."Everything checks out, the site is added as a trusted location (I removed an re-added just to make sure) and "login automatically" is set by default on the FBA.Has anyone else run into this issue? I do not have this issue on our internal facing MOSS sites and IE 7 continues to works as expected in our extranet. Thanks,Mike

I also get the "your client does not support opening this list with Windows explorere". It works fine on Intranet sites but not on Extranet sites. I'm running Windows Server 2008 as my host os and IE 8. I tried both with and without compatibility view turned on.

Hello Tim,Other than allowing automatic MSFT updates to run, I made no changes to my PC.It was eventually corrected by a MSFT update as I madeno changes to my PC. My OS was Vista Business and I don't know which update fixed the issue.I found out later I wasn't the only person in my company to have this issue, but everyone is corrected somehow. My "outage" lasted approximately one month. All the best,Mike

Hey guys, Got the same error. For me it was because of IE9. I am using IE8 now with no problems. Happy Sharepointing, Rabih
