Open a PDF like a word document for editing
I am using PDF Annotator to edit PDF documents that are stored in a document library. I have versioning turned on but required checkout set to No. I want the user to simply click on the document name, which will then open PDF Annotator for editing (I changed the file association so this works). This scenario works if the user first checks out the document, which puts it in their local drafts folder. I don't want to require the user to check the document out, but when they save the document in PDF Annotator, I want it to save back to the document library. I have modified the docicon.xml file on the server and added the domain to my trusted sites. I have this working on a development machine but can't remember what I did to get it there. Thanks

Hi, Thanks to share your post in this forum. For the issue that you have encountered, do you mean that you want to save the document back to the document library while save it in the PDF Annotator? If yes, you may create an action function to achieve this. Or you may create a workflow. They both help to this issue. Hope this could help you! Leo

Leo...thanks for the thoughts. I believe I have it resolved though. For some reason when I open the document library up in Explorer view, and login again, something must have gotten triggered because now I'm able to simply click on the PDF name and it opens in PDF annotator still "hooked" to the library...meaning it doesn't download the file. When I hit save it saves it back to the library like I want. Not sure what happened with the open in Explorer view but it worked?? Steve
