Open Documents with Office Web App - SharePoint 2013

We have configured Office Web App for our SharePoint 2013 Farm and in Site settings, Site Collection Features,  have disabled "Open Documents in Client Applications by Default" . Out of 15 sites, all documents in 13 sites open in Office Web App. One of the 2 sites where the document still open using Client Application is a Wiki site.

Advanced propertied for the libraries settings has been set to "Use the server default (Open in the browser)". Anything else to check to open documents in Office Web App?

Hi,

As I understand, you encountered the issue when you want to open documents with Office Web App.

Check things below:

1. In the library setting->advanced setting, you can choose the open in the browser to see if the same situation will occur.

2. Check if you have not enable the Open Documents in Client Applications by Default feature. If you choose Activate to enable the Open in Client feature (documents will open in the client application), or Deactivate to disable the Open in Client feature (documents will open in the browser).

You can go to Site setting->site collection administration->site collection feature->Open Documents in Client Applications by Default to set the feature.

The article below is about how to set the default open behavior for browser-enabled documents.

Documents open in Office Web App (OWA)  without a problem. The setting has been enabled at the site collection feature level. When a document is open, users cannot click on the URL in the document to be re-directed to the location. I have changed the setting in Advanced property of the LIST to allow documents to open in native application, till I figure out how to address the issue of accessing URL in documents opened using OWA.

Hi,

So the issue in your first post that some documents cannot be opened in Office Web Apps is resolved?

If yes, you can share your resolution here which will help others who meet the same issue.

In your second post, it seems that you have a new issue that the URL cannot be clicked in the document after opening the document in Office Web Apps.

For this case, it is better to have one question one thread, then others will focus on that issue and provide their suggestions.

So I recommend you to open a new thread for the new issue.

Thanks for your understanding.

Best regards

Hi,

I did not have issue opening document in Office Web App. The issue was once the document opens in Office Web App, we cannot click on URL in the document to be re-directed to the site. I am seeing that to be able to copy data or click on URL in a document, it needs to be opened in native Office App or we need to be in Edit mode of Office Web App. This has not been fixed. I have made "open in native app" as the default for the library.
