Only Percentage is low but the alert is sent....
Hello,
I have the Monitor name: Logical Disk Free Space
Category: Custom
Overrides target: Object E:
Error % Thresholds for Non-System DrivesDouble 5
Error MBytes Thresholds for Non-System DrivesDouble 1000
Warning % Thresholds for Non-System DrivesDouble 10
Warning MBytes Thresholds for Non-System DrivesDouble 2000
I have no override...
Since logical disk volumes may vary in size from a few gigabytes to many terabytes or more the Logical Disk Free Space monitoring routine requires that an Operator indicate both the Megabyte and Percentage based threshold values that must be passed before
the Warning and Error thresholds reached.
My server has a drive of 800 Gb the Free Space is 70 Gb and which is about 7% why am I getting an alert as only the percentage is low but not the MBytes threshold?
I noticed that the Logical Disk E: % Free Space counter and Logical Disk E: Free Megabytes were just above 0 % and 0 Mb during 4 days at least ... even the machines was working fine as I did not get any ticket from the users (it is a payroll system - I would
have known :) )
This would explain the alert but why the performance counters would be so low ... for so long and nobody noticed them ,,,, strange. I will report the report of these counters to see how long was this issue going-on
Any idea?
Thanks,
Dom

Hello Dom,
Did you mean that a Logical Disk Free Space alert was generated that a disk has only 0 Mb free but actually it has 70Gb free disk? If yes, it is a really strange issue that I had never seen.
Is that could be a issue that the Windows Explore report a wrong disk free space just like below ones:
2003 Server - Disk free space vs disk space used by files incorrect by 20gb

Apparently after a failure to connect to the iSCSI drive SCOM was receiving wrong information from the drive... a reboot and clean-up on the drive made it back to 80 GB and SCOM reports 80 GB now...
