On-Premise Excel Web App different from Excel Web App on Internet?

I was excited to read this blog post about how cell protection had come to the Excel Web App.  They even provided an example spreadsheet to show it off.  I tried it out, then I moved the file to my OneDrive and tried it out in the cloud.

But then, I uploaded it to my on-premise SharePoint server and invoked the on-premise Excel Web App, and no joy.  It says "We're sorry.  We can't open the workbook in the browser because it uses these unsupported features: Sheet protection."

So, is that correct? Is the on-premise Office Web App suite different from the one that's in the cloud? If not, where do I find the latest, greatest version of on-premise Office Web Apps so I can start using it.  If it IS correct, then when will the on-premise web apps catch up to the cloud version?

Thanks in advance.  I'm in over my head on SharePoint right now, and just trying to stay afloat.  I apologize in advance for my professional inexper
