This morning I noticed some odd search errors and decided to just restart the search service and recnfigure everything. When I reach the point of creating an import connection I see all the options for all 4 types on imports(AD,LDAP,BDC,AD Resource) all on the same page at the same time. Normally you would just see the one you select or AD by default. If I select and then unselct I'll get just AD but I am unable to save and get the following message. An error occurred while validating or updating the directory service connection. No connection was added.

Hi themush1326, This issue occurs in environments in which the DNS name differs from the NetBIOS domain name. For example, the Active Directory name is contos , and the NetBIOS domain name is contoso . If this is your issue, to work around this issue, enter the NetBIOS domain name in the Domain name text box on the Add Connection page in SharePoint Server 2007.
