Oct CU update failed on final server with concurrency exception
You should run the Product Configuration Wizard after installing the CU on All SharePoint servers (see step 7 in http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/36206/Steps-required-to-install-Microsoft-Office-SharePo.aspx ). Have you run it on WFE1 before CU installation finished on WFE2? BTW, the psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -wait –force command usually runs with the –wait parameter, which means Psconfig.exe does not return until the upgrade is completed. Could you please try this? Gu Yuming TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com

Hi MOSS2007 farm on SP2. 1SQL, 1index, 1 Query and 2 WFEs. All 64bit running on server 2008 R2 with SQL 2008. Upgrade to Oct 2010CU proceded with no issues until config wizard was run on the final server (2nd WFE). The wizard failed on step 8. The following are the relevant (I think) parts of the ULS, upgrade and psconfig logs. I have tried clearing the config cache initally on just the offending machine but later on all machines. I've restarted timer and spadmin services on all boxes and also tried rebooting WFE1 and WFE2 to no avail. I have tried running psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force several times - also with no luck. According to the upgrade log there were zero errors and zero warnings - just the 'SyncUpgradeTimerJob: Upgrade timer job failed. Return -1.' message seen below. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Hi Gu The config wizard has been run successfully on all the other servers in the farm. The server that is failing is the final one. I have also tried running psconfig with the -wait parameter but with the same result. Cheers Mike
