OWA and email notification
We just moved over to Exchange 2010 from POP3... we will start using OWA as our main E-mail program, but I'm not understanding how/why the notification in OWA is not working... first, I'm not sure what to expect as a 'notification' with OWA - is it a pop up like in Outlook, or just a flash on the IE page that OWA is on? If it's a pop up, then it's definitely not working, then the question is what do I need to check on the server side to see why it's not working.. Thanks jill

A new mail notification in OWA 2007 is configures via Options->Messaging->"Display a notification when new e-mail arrive". Can you verify it is checked? I don't think OWA notifies via a pop-up.- Thanks, Jinesh.

Yes, we have the notification in the path selected.. it is selected by default... I'm not sure what exactly a 'notification' entails with OWA.. our users would like to see a pop up / fly out window as they did in Outlook... does anyone know what 'notification' means in OWA? thanks. Jill

Hi, We have RemindersAndNotificationsEnabled for OWA virtual directory settings. If it's enabled, this option lets users receive reminders for calendar items and tasks and notifications for new messages. If it's disabled, users won't receive reminders and notifications. Reminders and notifications are not available in the light version of Outlook Web App. Set-OwaVirtualDirectory http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123515.aspx Regards, Xiu

Thanks Xiu... I'm thinking our users are wanting the same type of notification in the system tray when OWA is minimized to the task bar as they get with Outlook program. I don't think OWA does this type of notification that I can find. I have found a third party program called OWA Tray Monitor that does this, and it is shareware... I am testing it on my system now, and it appears to be doing what we would like it to do.. I'll go ahead and close this question. Jill
