OS Deployment - setting up secondary site
Hi, I need to setup a secondary site at our remote office (same domain). My primary site server is named SCCM and is located in subnet 10.10.10.X The remote site has subnet 10.10.11.X. I will setup the server for PXE boot and DP. The server is a Windows 2003 SP2 server. The server is a domain controller. The two subnets is connected through a MPLS line. - My first try failed big time So now I have rolled back and will start over. My plan is to do the following: - Add the server computer account to the administrators group. - Create a share on the server for packages. Grant everyone full control and for NTFS security I will grant the primary server computer account full access to the folder. - Install WDS - Add a new site server in the cgrManager - Add the distribution point role and PXE role to the new site server - Finally I will "replicate" the boot images and my OS image to the new server. Am I missing anything?

Hi Thomas, First, I would really *NOT* recommend you to install any SCCM roles on a domain controller. Due to security and performance concerns. Second, lets start with why you need a new secondary site. Regarding your plan. 1) What "administrators group"? Domain admins? 2) Why create the share your self? Do not grant everyone "full control". This is a large security risk.Kind regards Tim Nilimaa IT Consultant at Mindgrape (Sweden) Please remember to mark this answer as helpful if it helped you.

I agree with Tim. Just the thought of adding SCCM to a DC makes me cringe. John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum |
