OSD to previously connected wireless laptops / Desktops
SCCM 2007 R2 Windows Server 2003 1 Primary, 6 secondary I have some Lenovo and Dell Laptops, which are located on our Manufacturing floor in Dickson, TN. These systems are located near some welding and manufacturing cells, in the middle of the plant floor, which do not have access to any CAT 5e or 6 cabling. Therfore, for some time now (past 2-3 years or so) they have been running on wireless. Since our inception of SCCM about 10 months ago, these machines have been in system center, and running quite well for inventory, baselines, and other items too. I have some images I've created and would like to push out to these systems. I know that I'm going to have trouble with the wireless, so I'm going to have to use a wired connection - which is no problem to do. I have a workcenter near the shop floor where I can take a few at a time and image them. Question here is...since they have been on wireless for some time, would OSD work if I then plug them into a wired connection, or would I have to do a "Computer Association->ImportComputer Information->Import Single computer" and add the MAC of the wired connection? I guess I can test this out when I get down to Tennesse, but figured I'd ask first to see if anyone had a similar situation, so I can plan ahead. If I don't need to add the computer association, then it saves me a few steps (for about 30 laptops). Thanks!

No it won't care. If you OSD with the machine already in SCCM then it will find it based on the unique SMS ID already in the system. It will find and push the image to it. We have laptops that are out running around all the time and then connect back via hard wire. SCCM doesn't care. If the client can see the Site server then it can get the OS image. There are checks and balances in place to make sure that the correct machine gets the image. If you put Computer1 in the collection for OSD then only computer1 should be getting that image.http://www.sccm-tools.com http://sms-hints-tricks.blogspot.com

Sounds like things should go nicely then, when I get onsite. Thanks for the knowledge!
