OSD WIM Editing (add Office 2013)

I took over about a year ago for an SCCM admin that left the company.  He has PXE boot working with an OSD deployment.  There are two WIMs we use, a Win 7 ENT and Win 7 PRO.  I need to update these WIMs with Office 2013 and the necessary Office 2013 updates.

Without knowing the exact process he followed, what is the easiest way to update the WIMs?  Is it possible to simply load a WIM on a machine, uninstall Office 2010, and then install Office 2013 and its updates, run Sysprep, and then recreate the WIM and use it again as long as I keep the same name and then just update the distribution points with the updated WIM?Again, I do not have any OSD experience following the create from scratch WIM method using the wizards in SCCM.

Any help at all with a possible quick way to update the WIM with Office 2013 will be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,

Fred

Fred,

You can do this using a build and capture. It's best practice to run this on a VM.

Check out Gerry Hampson's guides on how to do this with MDT integrated.

Why would you add Office to your WIM though? OSD is *not* about bloating your image. While it's certainly possible and sometimes worthwhile depending upon your requirements, don't add it to your image just to deploy Office to new systems.
