OSD Task sequences failed in application installation step.

Hello,

I am deploying win 7 with installing app-v client application(by package), I applied this Task sequences on some of devices sometimes it worked and installed app-v client application but in some cases  Task sequences failed to installed app-v client steps.

Please provide reason for this and how to resolve this.

Please post the appenforce.log from the client. App-V client requires pre-requisite components that can trigger a reboot if not suppressed.

OK, please post your execmgr.log instead (where it shows the App-V Client Package attempting to be installed  and whatever it was beforehand.)  What do you have BEFORE the App-V Client Package in the Task Sequence?

Certain pre-requisites need to be installed for the App-V client to successfully install.

Take a look here http://sccmentor.wordpress.com/2013/05/21/deploy-the-app-v-5-0-client-with-sccm-2012/

Note that KB2533623 has been superseeded if you are pushing out any Windows Updates as part of your OSD.

Have these pre-reqs been applied in the Task Sequence prior to the App-V client install? If not add them in and try the push again.

  Hi Paul,

Am using App-v 4.6 client version  with sccm 2012 sp1 and As this application installed on some of the devices ,It means I think its fill fulling the per-requisites .

Hi MadLuka,

Nothing specific  about app-v client  in  execmgr.log  or no any error showing related to app-v client installation.

Did you find a solution to this in the end? I am having the same problem but only with one type of laptop model, all the others work fine.

We are deploying the application using SCCM 2012 R2 and using a package in OSD TS on Windows 7.

Yes, I know this is an old post, Im cleaning up old post, did you get this fixed, if so what was the solution?

Since no one has answer this post, I recommend opening  a support case with CSS as they can work with you to solve this problem.

I found with this that it wasn't installing one of the pre-req's when deployed via the .exe but only on one laptop model for some reason. I ended up just deploying the pre-req's just to that model of laptop just before the app-v install in the TS.

Works everytime now, strange as if I ran it manually it would work no problems.
