Hello Anoop and Torsten - thank you both for your help. I have succeeded to complete the OSD including the updates by server restart. My SCCM Server reportedly restarted unexpectedly and after properly restarting the server and secondly ensuring the new install occured on a new Bare metal box. In my tests I found that if I didnt use a bare metal box then I would occasionally run into SLP issues whereby WSUS server failed to be found. This normally should not be an issue as prior to runnning Updates the Task Sequence adds the box to AD. Our AD has is schema extended to eliminate the need for a switch to specify SLP. I also tried running the Updates 3 times but it was not installing a single update. I am assuming WSUS on the server had problems but I am not sure at this point. Obviously restarting the server has helped. Cheers Steve.

For no apparent reason my OSD Task Sequence is timing out during "Install Software Updates" I have tried adding "continue on error" for the 1st round of Updates, then added a restart, plus a 2nd round of Updates. This only runs the updates process twice without completing. "Download content Locally" is set to the OSD Advertisement (suggested in another Question) - without success. Seems you are running into this issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2009754. Are additional updates getting installed in the second run of the "install software updates step"? Any chance that you need another reboot plus TS step?Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de
