OSD Standalone Image with Drivers included

Hello,

I am supposed to create a standalone boot media for windows 7.  The catch is, it is in China, the network connectivity stinks and I need all of the drivers to be in place.  I have thee network drivers for the 3 different systems on the boot image.  If I use dism and put  all of the drivers on the operating system image,  during the OS install will it find/install the drivers?  I could create a task sequence for Apply Driver Package, one for each pc model, but  this would greatly slow down the OSD process.  What are your thoughts?

Thanks so much,

Mark

It's possible to do and yes the driver would get installed by the OS.

But why not having the stand alone media with the 3 drivers package and a WMI query to apply the driver would not take that much longer.

This would also be a lot cleaner as well.

Because the OS would still go to the getting ready screen if they are inside the WIM and that still take time.

Hi,

Totally agree with Frederick.

Hi ,

Try to have the selection profile for the drive. In apply driver select the selection profile for different model. Also you can add wmi query.

If you have a single make and model , you can add the drivers in OS image.

Totally agree with Xin and Frederick.

Also, you should REALLY consider avoid using the Auto Apply Drivers step.

Using the Apply Drivers Package steps to target specific device models is recommended and less prone to driver/device identification errors. It also facilitates drivers for network and stand-alone media deployment.
