OSD Operating System Image package distribution
This is a frustrating problem I am having with this particualr problem. I have created a OS image that I have susccessfully deployed to several clients thru OSD in SCCM. I am wanting to distribute this to clients in remote locations. I added three distribution points. Two of them installed successfully to the distribution points. One is hanging with a status of Retrying on the distribution point. The interesting thing is that this morning (after I received this error) I was able to install several Sofware Distribution packages to this vey distribution point. What do I need to do to resolve this? Thanks.

The server which is your Primary Site server role is the one which needs to go to the source folder. The computer account in Active Directory for your Primary Site server needs to have at least Read rights to the remote network share, and read NTFS rights to the files/folders on that share. Once your Primary Site server gets the file(s), it sends the package content to the Distribution Points. For every Software package you can check Package status beneath the package, and on Site status - Package status you can check it also.My ConfigMgr blog: http://henkhoogendoorn.blogspot.com Follow me on Twitter: @henkhoogendoorn

The permissions should be there. The primary is able to push OTHER software packages to this same distribution point. I just tried a small package and it installed with no issues. I am able to push this particular Software Image package (a 6+ GB WIM file) to other distribution points with no issue. The issue lies between this package and this distribution point.

Maybe it has something to do with the big size then, and available space on the DP ? Have you configured slow/fast boundaries and/or branch/protected DP's ? What's the Package status beneath the package, and on Site status - Package status ? Otherwise remove package from this DP, add it again, and choose update DP.My ConfigMgr blog: http://henkhoogendoorn.blogspot.com Follow me on Twitter: @henkhoogendoorn
