OSD Join Domain / different OU
Hello, I have a question about SCCM OSD and joining the Domain. we will migrate up to 13.000 Clients from Windows XP to Win 7. Image is fine, task sequence works perfect including Backup and resore, no Problems. We use also vendor serial as Computername. during the Migration we need to change the OU from "XP_machines" to "Win7_machines" if i set the %machineObjectOU% variable to the new one, nothing happens the Computer account is still in the "XP_Machines" OU. is it possible to delete the old Computer Account in AD during a task sequence? do this Step manually in AD is not an option. what i want is the following: Boot in PE, delete AD account if exists join Domain in new OU. --> This Works, no Problem Any Help would be great. Thanks Thorsten

There is no built-in task that would delete computer accounts from AD, so you would have to create a custom one.

Thank you for the fast response any idea how to delete a computer account from Windows PE? we used the Standard Boot Image in SCCM R2 SP2. with our standart .vbs file, we get a error message, that AD services will not be Supported under Windows PE.

Hi Thor - I ended up using the web front end which works great. It also is very easy to setup and will move the computer no matter where it is in your AD. http://mdtcustomizations.codeplex.com/ Moving Computers in Active Directory
