hi, there is a known issue about capturing Windows 7 user state when a specific Windows update is installed. look for the : KB974571 1) open the "program and features" pane 2) open the "View Installed Updates" 3) navigate up to the "Microsoft Windows" section 4) locate and remove the KB974571 5) Restart your computer and run your task sequence Regis

hi, yes i already removed that patch. my failure is coming after that. i tried my task sequences without USMT and it worked perfectly. Only when i want to use USMT then i get this message. Another question: What is USMT good for? I know to capture the profile, etc. In our company everything is stored on the server, profiles, dokuments, etc.. so do i need USMT? when the user logs on the first time the profile will be loaded automaticly.... this leads me to the next question, how can i delete this patch on all PC´s in my company with the sccm?

Hey Andy, I had issues with this too. I decided to use this solution which worked first time: http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1735-using-offline-mode-in-windows-pe-using-usmt-4-via-a-task-sequence-in-sccm-2007-sp2 Blair Muller

Hi, we have finished wim file, prepared by another user in my company. This file is working perfectly. Now i want to use this wim file in the sccm R2. This file contains win 7 with a lot of software included. What i want now is to use sccm wirh USTM but i always get problems. I have to admit that i m a complettly newbie on sccm. when the task sequences starts on the client, it tells me that the userfiles are captured and then i get a failure message.. here are the failure codes from the log files: smsts-20110216-142155 log USMT package path = 'C:\_SMSTaskSequence\Packages\CMS00057' Initiailization succeeded Building Default USMT params successful Adding config files to user params successful Building user defined params successful Building USMT command successful Successfully connected to "\\SCCM.CMSLEGAL.LOCAL\SMPSTOREC_2ADED929$\597496AED6F2751FFF2982C02F991AC20558F3D8577E450C2413CCD915B37E20" Executing command line: "C:\_SMSTaskSequence\Packages\CMS00057\scanstate.exe" "\\SCCM.CMSLEGAL.LOCAL\SMPSTOREC_2ADED929$\597496AED6F2751FFF2982C02F991AC20558F3D8577E450C2413CCD915B37E20" /o /localonly /encrypt /key:*** /c /efs:copyraw /all /l:"C:\Windows\SysWOW64\CCM\Logs\SMSTSLog\scanstate.log" /progress:"C:\Windows\SysWOW64\CCM\Logs\SMSTSLog\scanstateprogress.log" /i:"C:\_MSTaskSequence\Packages\CMS00057\amd64\miguser.xml" /i:"C:\_SMSTaskSequence\Packages\CMS00057\amd64\migapp.xml" USMT returned exit code (0x0000001c). Thank you very much! Andy

hi, If all documents and user's profile are stored on a server, USMT becomes less important. It could be helpfull if some application settings or documents located outside any profile need to be transferred. Regards, Régis
