May I know what I need to configured in the secondary to become as OS Depoployment role also

Do I need to enable the PXE boot  in Secondary Site ?

Do I need to install the WDS   in Secondary Site  even install already in the PORimary Site?

Do I need to enable the  SMP Role ?

Can you send me a step by step procedure on how to configure the secondary site to act as OSD  and boot from network  .. I highly apprecaited in you can give a high level  approarch  through layman terms

Btw, were using SCCM 2007 R3

Thanks

Hi,

In order for you to get PXE OSD functionality, you will need to install the Management Point, PXE Service Point and Distribution Point on the Secondary Site system. WDS also needs to be installed yes.

Actually, there's no explicit need for a secondary site or a management point at all.

PXE simply requires network connectivity to the PXE Service Point which is best to have local instead of across the WAN. Access to a DP for the rest of content required for the OSD process is also of course required and this is also best to have local instead of across the WAN.

That's it.

As for the SMP, no it is not required either. SMPs are most useful during replace scenarios where you wish to preserve the user's data -- it acts as a temporary, secure location to store the user's data as captured by USMT. If you don't need this, then there is no reason to have.

You need to install the WDS on that Secondary site server (but not configured) and the PXE service point role.
