OSD - Windows 7 base image with IE9
I am trying to figure out the best way to install IE9 into my base image. I ran the IEAK9 on my workstation PC and set IE9 not to require a reboot and then put a package together in Software Deployment that set Configmanager to handle the reboot. I then hopped over to OSD and added the install software step for IE9 but got an error. Should I create a package that does not reboot the PC or add some steps into the sequence to reboot and gracefully return to the setup? If I need to add steps to gracefully recover, what might I need? I have a novice to intermediate level understanding of Config Manager.. Enough to get myself into these kinds of problems, so thanks in advance for reading this far.Anything worth doing is worth doing right.

I'd add it to my base image. John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum/|

Sorry if i wasn't clear. Thats what I am trying to accomplish but the question was how. Set the package to not reboot and try to get it to finish properly, or let the package reboot the install and try to recover to the same point in the installl? Update: And how to recover the the point after the software install? Anything worth doing is worth doing right.

Create a program that doesn't restart and let your Task Sequence restart the system. My Blog: http://www.petervanderwoude.nl/

Should it just automatically pick up again where it left off or do I need special sauce to get it back to the same point? IE 9 is one of those creatures that does a lot of stuff on reboot so I wanted to figure out if I needed to reboot it prior to capture (capture the os is not to far down the list) or if it will be ok just letting it get captured as is?Anything worth doing is worth doing right.

If you use a Task Sequence -step to restart the system it will just pick-up the next step in the Task Seqeunce after the restart. My Blog: http://www.petervanderwoude.nl/
