Number of Distribution points supported by SCCM 2012 R2 with lower hardware configuration

Hi,

I have customer who is running SCCM 2012 R2 on a VM which has 16 GB RAM and 2 processor cores. After adding about 120 distribution points to the stand alone primary site, we are not able to see any new distribution points in the Monitoring section of the console whenever a new one is added. As far as I have seen on Technet's documentation, 250 distribution points are supported for primary stand alone sites with recommended hardware (8 cores 32 GB RAM). So my question is, does the number of supported distribution points depend on hardware configuration of the primary stand alone site server ? btw, SQL for SCCM is installed on the same server as well.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

The actual visibility of the DPs in the console should be unaffected by an under speced site server although anything is possible with an over-whelmed server.

Have you checked the actual performance of the site server and the SQL server to see if in fact it is under pressure?

Have you checked distmgr.log and sitecomp.log to verify that the installs were even started? Have you checked the new DPs to see if anything has been staged to them?
