Notify on an activity assignment change only if status is in progress
I've already got the notification process working for new assignment / re assignment of activities, however it is firing off irregardless of the status of the activity. How would one go about adding additional criteria such as to only trigger when the status of the Activity is pending? As it stands right now, analysts are getting assignment emails for activities that are 'Pending' ie not approved which leads to confusion. They then receive a another email triggered by a pending->in progress status change workflow letting them know its been approved. Another option would be not fill out the assigned user field for the manual activity and to have the run book use the service request assigned owner to populate that object, but again no real help out there on how to source and update that field. If someone can lend a hand that would be great, without pointing to the same assignment/reassignment how-to that are out there (already have that in place, need to modify the criteria or not use it at all).

Hey Can you adjust the "Changed to" configuration to use your desired status by selecting the status property? Cheers MarcelSCSMfaq // Blog --> http://blog.scsmfaq.ch // Twitter --> #scsmfaq // Business --> http://www.itnetx.ch

The current notifications for assignment are achieved using a similar custom management pack as to whats been posted in the other forums: example 1: http://blogs.technet.com/b/servicemanager/archive/2010/03/12/custom-notification-workflow-on-activity-assignment-or-reassignment.aspx so it is not using the out of the box wizards, because they can't seem to monitor the related object (the assignment field) for activities. If that was available in the workflow options for activities this would be a trivial task, but that is not the case. I dont even understand why that field is a related object to the activity form and not just part of the form, i guess it was a design decision (not a good one by the number of blogs and posts asking a similar question to mine). SO anyways, any idea how to tackle this, i just need to add one more criteria definition to the MP so that it only triggers if the Activity status is 'In Progress', or abandon the MP completely and work the whole thing in a runbook (which is just outside my scope of 2 weeks experience with SCSM). Im trying to go live by Friday and would love to have these unnecessary emails taken care of.
