Notifications to use users in Active Directory
Hi! All, I setup notification on my opsmgr2007 R2. As Iam building the environment, I realised that Iam adding users in subscribers list -under Notifications - Administration who are already users in my active directory. My questions are: 1) Is there a way to configure opsmgr to populate the active directory users into subscribers - so that I dont have to create separate list of users 2) Can I have users in a group and then assign the group to subscriptions, if the above question cannot populate users in AD? Appreciate some help and guidance. Many thanks Ven

Hi, You cant dynamic really populate the notification subscriptions, not in a easy way. But you could add a DL (distribution list) to the subscription and then manage the DL members in AD in a number of dynamic ways.Anders Bengtsson | Microsoft PFE | blog at http://www.contoso.se

Hi! Anderes, Thank you for your reply, can you explain a bit more in detail on the approach you suggested? I would really like to take advantage of AD users for notifications. It will help if you could also point to some forums or blogs which talk about it. Thanks Ven

Basically he says to use an AD group (DL will do). This AD group can be populated dynamically, but it's more of an AD question than a SCOM question. e.g. i could do something like whenever someone changes department in sap, i could update that info in my AD and put the user in the notification DL (or remove him of course).Rob Korving http://jama00.wordpress.com/

Thank you guys, unfortunately in our environment we dont have any email server - so Iam unable to create a DL. I guess the best way is to add users manually with their email id's. :( Many thanks for your help Ven
