Not always able to open documents of Sharepoint 2007 from IE8-W7
Hello All, I have problems opening documents (Word, Excel...) that are located on our SharePoint 2007. 2 things are happening in W7 with IE8: - I am getting a login prompt or nothing; it's freezing. Or - Even by entering my same credentials or clicking on cancel, sometimes it stuck, sometimes it works. This does not happen on a consistant basis. In the past for WinXP, that problem has been fixed by putting a gpo that added all sharepoint sites to trusted sites of IE and forcing the security to low. But now with W7, even with the same gpo, we have a problem. Sometimes, it takes 5 minutes of end-tasks and retries to be able to open a document. Help! I cannot start our W7 deployment until this issue will be fixed. Thx, Alex

Hi Alex, IE 8 was officially supported by SharePoint since SP2, please make sure SP2 was applied on your farm. If your farm has SP2 applied, please let me know more information for investigation: 1. SharePoint Server 2007 product version number. 2. Windows 7 system edition. RC Or RTM 3. IE 8 edition. RC or RTM? 4. Does the issue occur in all Windows 7 systems or few of them? 5. Does the issue occur in a new installed Windows 7 systems? 6. Does the issue occur in all Windows XP with IE8? 7. Have you check the Trusted Sites and make sure the SharePoint site are added there? Let me know the result if possible. -lambertSincerely, Lambert Qin | Microsoft TechNet Managed Forum Support Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
