Not all users see all alerts
Hi I have a number of SCOM admins/read only users, one of which is me :) However, sometimes we have an issue with displayed alerts. Last night we had a failure and although I saw 10s of alerts come through in the active alert window, other users did not. I have checked my console this morning and 274 alerts are displayed associated with the error, walked over to another 2 user's SCOM consoles and they only have 4. One is a SCOM admin another is a SCOM read only user. Why would this be? Thanks

Do they have "Show all data selected"? Do they have any Scope selected? Have they "Personalized" their views? /RogerThis posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

In addition to Rogers comments, another way to troubleshoot is to look at which alerts are "missing" - are they from a particular application or from a set of servers that are similar in some way. When you have an issue like this it is also sometimes worthwhile starting the console with the /clearcache switch: http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinholman/archive/2007/12/19/tired-of-your-console-throwing-errors-or-manually-clearing-your-console-cache.aspx Cheers GrahamView OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/
