Not able to start the SQL Server 2008 R2 reporting services service
Hi, I was using MS SQL Server 2008 in my project. Recently my team has upgraded the MS SQL Server to 2008 R2 and installed all the BI tools also (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS). After upgrade we found that our Reporting Services is not working and also we are not able to start the Reporting Services service. When ever we are trying to start the service, we are getting the below error message. --------------------------- The SQL Server Reporting Services (MSSQLSERVER) service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs. --------------------------- When I checked the Application log to get the more details about the error. It showed the below message. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Service cannot be started. System.Exception: Default appdomain failed to initialize. at Microsoft.ReportingServices.Library.ServiceAppDomainController.Start() at Microsoft.ReportingServices.Library.ReportService.OnStart(String[] args) at System.ServiceProcess.ServiceBase.ServiceQueuedMainCallback(Object state) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Can any one please help me to solve the issue ? Thanks, Naveen

Hi Naveen, Have you tried the solution described at http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic186166-146-1.aspx? If you are working under vista or above os, try to launch the SQL Server Configuration Manager using "Run as administrator" and then retry. thanks, Jerry

Here are a couple of things you can try: Try to run the Service as an Administrator. There might be a chance that the Performance counters would have got deleted. Then you can try the Method 2 under: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956155 Hope this helps!!Chaitanya
