Not able to open the SCE 2007 Console.
When I attempt to open a remot console or even on the server directly I get the splash screen and I can see it connecting to the server but when it gets to the point where it is connecting to the update server I get an error dialog box saying "Error connecting the Update server 'ServerName' The request failed with HTTP status 503:Service UnavalibleI then click on OK and get a dialog box asking me to connect to a server. I type in the server name and it just takes me back to the error. When I click on cancle it closes out. At this point I'm not able to access the SCE2007 at all. Below is a copy of the details I get.Date: 6/5/2009 2:09:23 PMApplication: System Center EssentialsApplication Version: 6.0.1885.0Severity: ErrorMessage: Error connecting to Update server 'DATATMW' System.Net.WebException: The request failed with HTTP status 503: Service Unavailable. at Microsoft.UpdateServices.Administration.AdminProxy.CreateUpdateServer(Object[] args) at Microsoft.UpdateServices.Administration.AdminProxy.GetUpdateServer(String serverName, Boolean useSecureConnection, Int32 portNumber) at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.SCE.Internal.UI.Console.UpdateServerService.TryConnect(String serverName, Boolean connectSecurely, Int32 socketNumber) at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.SCE.Internal.UI.Console.UpdateServerService.TryConnect(String serverName) at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.SCE.Internal.UI.Console.EssentialsConsoleWindow.ChangeConnection(String serverName)Any ideas?? Hi, 1. Can you successfully open SCE console on your SCE server? 2. Please try to disable the firewall on both SCE server and the remote console client, if you can access the server after disabling the firewall, it means you need to create a exception for remote console. 3. Run "Services.msc" to open sevice panel and make sure DCOM service is enabled on your remote console client

Eric,1.No I can't open the console at all. 2.The firewall is disabled on botht the server and the client computer.3.I checked and the DCOM service is running. I still ahve this issue after a reboot of my server. At this point I am just going to uninstall the product and move it to a new server with a new database but I can't open the console to uninstall the existing agents as it looks like I"m required to preform this action. At this point any help would greatly be appreicated as we are dead in the water with the current install.

Hi, Please try to clear the cache by running the SCE console from the command line with the option: /clearcache. Example: "C:\Program Files\System Center Essentials 2007\Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.SCE.UI.Console.exe" /clearcache

Eric,Thanks for the response. I did not get a chance to confirm if that command would work or not as I had allready uninstalled the SCE and moved it to another server. Thank you for your assistance.
