Not able to edit Microsoft Documents from MOSS website.
Attempt to edit PowerPoint or Excel documents in directory after checking out (pull down combo box of file, Edit in...) results in error message attached. Am running Office Professional Plus 2007. I have installed the Windows SharePoint Services features by adding it from the add/remove extra features of Office 2007. Windows 7 64 bit, MOSS 2007 Publishing site, Office 2007, IE 9 64 bit. Does IE 9 64 bit can cause an issue?

'Edit Document' requires a Windows SharePoint Services-compatible application and Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater.

IE 9 64bit may be the issue if you are using the 32bit version of Office. Try IE 32bit and see if that helps. It may also be due to security settings, certain security settings prevent SharePoint detecting that you have Office installed. Try adding the site to your "Local Intranet" zone if you have not already.

I did that, added the extra components to Office 2007, but i have not registered the dll. But does IE 9 64bit supports, that feature, editing the documents.

Hi venkat, You can select "All add-ons" from Show dropdown to display the disabled add-ons related to SP, http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/How-to-manage-add-ons-in-Internet-Explorer-9 ThanksDaniel Yang TechNet Community Support
