No workflows running
Hi All, my WSS 3.0 has been running fine but today all my workflows started giving problems. I'd made no changes to the server and no updates have been installed Whenever I try running a workflow manually it seems to time out - I click "Start" and the page loads for about 10 minutes and then returns to the Start page, gives a time out error or returns to the list page but when I check the workflow it hasn't actually run. Automatic workflows just don't start at all I've checked the timer jobs and there are no errors on the statuses. I tried restarting the timer job but no joy. I've also tried clearing the timer cache folder but it hasn't made a difference either. There's no errors in the eventvwr or the Sharepoint logs Been looking at this most of the day now and I don't know where to look next so any suggestions welcome! Thanks Claire

Just an update - I've realised that's it's only workflows that send emails that this is effecting. If I do a test workflow with no email in it there's no problems. Must be something to do with my outbound email settings

Hi, Check if the outgoing emails are going properly or not. telnet your SMTP server over port 25 and observe the results. I hope this will help you outThanks, Rahul Rashu

Thanks Rahul, I actually figured it out last night, the Anti-Virus had updated itself to a new version and it had changed the priority of the winsock catalog causing SMTP to use UDP instead of TCP. A weird one, but easy to solve once you know the problem!
