I went on configure SUP and found that there is no where to select server 2012 and SQL 2012 for security updates downloads. 

How do I enable software updates for Windows server 2012 and SQL server 2012 ?

Running - Windows server 2012 R2 , SCCM 2012 SP1 R2

Hi,

I just verified that SQL Server 2012 and WS2012 appear in the Products list when configuring the SUP component (Administration -> Overview -> Site Configuration -> Sites -> Configure Site Components (ribbon) -> Software Update Point -> Products tab -> [ SQL Server -> Microsoft SQL Server 2012 ] / [ Windows -> Windows Server 2012]).

Does this differ from your situation?

Minor correction - I cannot see SCCM 2012 security updates and SQL 2012 updates . It only shows upto SQL 2008 R2 

I can see Windows server 2012 updates and are enabled.

Was the first SUP sync successful at all?

ConfigMgr has no published updates in the WSUS update list and it does not even has an entry in the product list. SQL Server 2012 is listed under the SQL Server section as Microsoft SQL Server 2012 though. As long as you've has one successful sync (as Torsten is eluding to), you should have it.

Thanks Jason and Torsten. Sync has never completed . 

Though now when finishing post deployment task for WSUS I get error 

Fatal error: Changes to the state or options of database SUSDB cannot be made at this time. The database engine is in single-user mode, and a user is currently connected to it.

ALTER DATABASE statement failed.

I checked few posts that talk about fixing it on SQL , I am not using SQL for WSUS and using local folder to store updates along with windows internal db.
