No Response Ping in SCOM 2012 Beta network monitoring
Hi! I have successfully installed SCOM 2012 Beta in the test environment. When trying to discover network devices using the network discovery rule, I am receiving "No Response Ping" status for all devices although I can successfully ping all network devices from the server in Command Prompt. If I switch access mode in the properties of the network devices discovery rule to SNMP only, all devices are discovered successfully. Has anyone come across such problem?

Quick update on this... I was able to discover devices using "ICMP and SNMP" access mode after I have disabled Windows Firewall on the server for Domain Profile. However, this is still confusing me since outbound connections are allowed by default for the Domain Profile... and ping was working from Command Prompt even with Windows Firewall enabled.

Response ping ... that is an incoming ping :) Microsoft Corporation

I would disagree about that. Any connection initiated from the server is considered as outbound connection from that server's perspective. Anyhow, even if that is the case, how come that ping was working when running from Command Prompt? I was receiving ping replies. If someone else can reproduce that problem, then it is an issue with the product. If I am the only one experiencing, then it must be something with my test environment.

Thank you very much for the feedback. This article explains the same issue which I am experiencing in my test environment. I agree with Stefan that it's confusing that ping from command prompt works as expected and that is something that most of us would do as a first step in diagnosis process.
