hi, i cannot find a new user who has been added to the active directory recently in the people picker. when searched for other users it works. it is saying no exact match found for this new user. we did profile sycn, still doesnt show up. we also did the following a. stsadm.exe -o setapppassword -password <somekey> - this command is use as encrypt\decrypt key B. stsadm.exe –o setproperty –pn peoplepicker-searchadforests –pv <list of forests or domains> -url <webapp> - this command is use to set the property for a specific web application. still doesnt work. any workarounds? i would appreciate your help

you mean you did not the user in the Sharepoint,did you run the profile import? thanks wsi am at SharePoint administrator

Hi, When you add a user in the Active Directory, you have to create its profile in the SSP if the automatic profile import is not enabled. Just go to SSP and check whether the profile of this user exists in the User Profiles or not. If no then create it. Once a user profile is created then you will be able to see him or her whenever you write his name or AccountID in the people picker control. Regards Ginni [My SharePoint Blog]

I am having a similar issue and have found no resolution yet. We have two users that we are trying to add to a members group for a particular site but the people picker is returning "No exact match was found" when we search for these users by domain credentials, email, or name. I checked the active profiles in the SSP and both accounts are there and populated with the correct information from AD. Is this more of an AD issue with the site that we are trying to add the users to? Just to clarify, all of the servers in the farm reside on the same domain as all of the user accounts we are trying to add.
