Newbie : Impact of Secondary Site Server move to Cloud

Hello All,

Version : SCCM 2007 SP2 R3

We plan to move a Secondary Site SCCM server to a Private Cloud. (followed by the Primary site at a future date).

           - It is a VM and that will be copied over.

           - it hosts ProxyMP and WSUS roles only.

           - the name will remain the same

           - open ports will continue to remain open

           - the IP address and ADSITE of the server will change as per the Cloud.

           - Connectivity between cloud and regular network will be direct with no blocking/firewalls.

           - the WSUS server configuration on clients use name:port (not IP)

           - AFAIK, only server name is used; IP is not configured on any client for this server.

           - patching of this secondary server itself and other SCCM services can be ignored for now.

Since another team is driving the process; my role is to highlight any perceived impact to service.

Could someone please raise any points points of concern? Thanks.

Hi, As long as the hostname, domain membership and traffic isn't blocked by firewalls, I cannot see anything that would be a problem.

A private cloud is still on-premises system -- there's nothing special about them as far as applications go as long as the caveats mentioned by Jorgen are accounted for.
