Do you mean the native Windows Updates Popup? If so, do you have any GPO linked to your devices which is applying Windows Update Related Set

I saw one for scup. I also just unapproved all updates on wsus. I don't know it will help stop. If thats the right action then how to speed up to stop notification of updates on clients.

you mean scep? You shouldn't actually do anything in the WSUS Console. WSUS itself is orchestrated by Configuration Manager. Have you manually approved anything in the WSUS Conso

I think my colleague approve them earlier. I just unapproved all already. It has been couple of hours since unapproving. Will that take longer to refresh on the clients. Is there a way to speed it up so users won't see new updates available or auto installing? Thanks

Maybe restart Windows Update on the clients. But if this is only a SCEP Definition Update it shouldn't be that bad when it gets installed.

Just remember to do all the Software Update related work in the ConfigMgr Console!

no it got a few updates. I tried restarting the windows update service on one machine and see those updates are still available state in control panel. Won't they go away after a few minutes? Is there a timer for wsus to sync with client?

Try stopping Windows Update Service and clear C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution. Restart the Service and run "wuauclt /detectnow".

You need to disable "automatic updates" via a group policy. This will prevent the WUA from automatically installing anything from even if they are approved. Note however that you should also smack your "colleague" as you should never ever approve anything in WSUS once its integrated into ConfigMgr.
