New to SCOM - Reporting Q
Hello, I am very new to SCOM and have a few questions I was hoping I could get some help with. SCOM was set up by a former employee and Ive had access to the console for a couple weeks now. I've been able to familiarize myself with it but am running into a few issues. I signed up for an SCOM class, however, it doesnt start for a few more months and if at all possible Id like to get a few things cleared up before then. Ive been able to get rules and monitors to work with a certain degree of success; they return data but not quite as much as I would expect them to. For example, one of the rules I have is to generate an alert when event 539 or 644 appears in an event log on a Windows Computer. I seem to be getting alerts from desktop machines but not from most of the servers. I have a feeling this may have to do with the permissions on the MSA as it may not have enough rights. Could this cause the problem? The other problem I have is with reporting. When running reports in the reporting space I get some odd results. If I run the availability report from the generic report library, it seems to return the appropriate data. With most other reports in the generic library and also in the Windows Server 2003 OS library I only get data from July 19th July22nd. Ive gone through all the troubleshooting I can find. Ive tried to run the reports from the monitoring space by clicking on a specific computer and I am also able to see a weeks worth of data in the performance view. Any idea what would have caused data to show up for those few days in July but not now? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated let me know if more information is needed. Thanks.
