New menu not showing when content management enabled
As soon as I enabled content management on a custom list, the New menu dissapeared. Also on the home page under the list, "Add a new item" link also dissapeared. Is this by design. How can I bring that feature back.

do you mean when you enable "Allow Management of Content Types" ?I've just tried it on a custom list & that works; are you using the beta 2 or a more recent build ?Do you have any available content type in your list ?Serge Luca; blog: http://sergeluca.spaces.live.com Devoteam Belgium

Hi Asim, I once saw the behavior on Service Requests list of HelpDesk template, but I did not see it on a list based on Custom List template. Could you please let me know what is your site template as well as the following information? 1. What is you SharePoint product version? 2. Is the issue reproducible for other list templates? Let me know the result if possible. I cannot reproduce problem on a new list. Its only on those 2 lists. I don't need to hide any columns via Content management either. As soon as I turn it on the New menu dissapears, I turn it off, it comes back. I did change the name of the List and added/removed columns. I don't remember what template was used to create the site, (how do I find out?) but this is the Project Tracking template which was customized. Includes Project, Project Task, Project MileStone, Project Issues, etc Using WSS 3.0 on Windows Server 2003 with all updates in place. Thanks, Asim.
