New Sharepoint Site WSS 3.0 Permission Problem with Anonymous Access
Hello, I have created a new WSS 3.0 Sharepoint Application in a Windows 2003 Std Server for test purpose. I have the site up and running but problem is that I cannot deploy anonymous access! When I go to http://url, it prompt me for credentials. In IIS site, I make sure Directory Security is checked Enable Anonymous Access under Authentication Access Control In IIS site, I make sure no IP address or domain name restrictions In WSS Central Administration/App Management/Auth Providers I make sure Enable Anonymous is check for default zone (only zone) In WSS Site, Site Settings/Advanced Permissions/Settings/Anonymous Access I make sure Entire Web is granted Still site prompts for credentials. What else can I check? Thank you. naki Naki K. / Inside Support & Technical Support Associate / Falcon ITS Computer and Network Services, Miami, Fl

I would install a copy of fidler and see what file is causing the authentication prompt. Its usually something like a graphic used on the page or something stored in a library where security inheritance was broken before anonymous access was turned on.Paul Stork SharePoint Server MVP

Thanks Paul, What's fidler? Also, I configured authentication before I started setting up the site. NakiNaki K. / Inside Support & Technical Support Associate / Falcon ITS Computer and Network Services, Miami, Fl

Fiddler is a free web debugger that you can use to look at the HTTP traffic between your browser and the server. It can be very helpful trying to pin down what is requiring authentication. You can get it here: http://www.fiddlertool.com/fiddler2/version.aspPaul Stork SharePoint Server MVP
