Please help to suggest for SharePoint farm set up:

- We have local data/files around 2 TB (currently hosted in client Shared folders), which is going to migrate into SharePoint 2013. The number of files are around 3 milion files.

- We have to buffer around 1.5 TB for next 5 years usage.

- Our intranet content database in Sharepoint 2007 is 100GB. It also need to migrate to Sharepoint 2013

Please help to recommend the following for SharePoint  (2013) form set up for our requirement :

1. No of database/database servers required
2. No of application servers
3. No of WFE
4. And recommended RAM size.
5. Hardware configuration

MS recommend limiting the size of a content databases to 200 GB, you have 2TB files, 100GB content database and have to buffer around 1.5 TB next years, So you require about 20 database and 1database server.

If you need to configure search service application in your SharePoint 2013, it is a little complex to determine how many application servers and WFE servers you need.

Thanks for your links. Base on MS documents we can come out with some ideal, but we not sure it has any difficulty after set-up and provision search function or not. Do you have any experiment with handle the large data for Sharepoint?

I would suggest following architecture:

2 Application Server
2 Web Front End Server
2 Search Server
2 SQL Server with High Availability Group. 

wither reference to above SharePoint boundries limitation, Content databases of up to 4 TB are supported when the following requirements
