New Secondary Site Not reporting back R3 installation
Hi ! I've just installed a new Secondary Site, running the installation from the Console by right clicking Central site and choosing "New Secondary Site" The installation and configuration works fine, but it doe not report back that R3 is installed. When checking Properties, it actually says "R2 Installed - No" Why would it say R2 Installed No, when it is a R3 installation. We have around 50 Sec sites in this hierarchy, last one done a week ago, so I can not understand why this one reports "R2 Installed - No"// Lundegard

You have to install R2 or R3 manually even when using the "New Secondary Site" wizard.Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

i would suggest you to check the log for the R3 and try running the R3 installation again . For me it resolved the issue on one of our secondry server.

MP installed fine, Site is reporting back fine to Central Site. Only the R3 at the moment I can not see. And the R3 installation log says Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3. Product Version: 4.00.6561.1000. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation. Installation success or error status: 0. But there is one error in the log I can not figure out if it is to bother about "The call to SRSetRestorePoint API failed. Returned status: 0. GetLastError() returned: 127"// Lundegard

Only re installed R3 did not work. I Needed to Uninstall the KB977384 patch and then uninstall R3. Then I re installed KB977384 patch and installed R3 again. // Lundegard

Several hours ago I went through 15 secondary sites, installed the hotfix, then installed R3. No indication of failure at all but the properties on 10 of them indicate that not only is R3 not installed...neither is R2? A side note...the version number for all the sites is 4.00.6487.2000...even for the ones that have R3 installed = Yes? Most of these are 2003 servers, so there shouldn't be an elevated privilege issue. Nonetheless, I suppose I'll go through the 10 again and see if uninstalling/reinstalling the hotfix and R3 will do the trick. Considering that each of these secondaries are connected to the central over a T1 link, just how long should I wait before assuming this is a legitimate installation problem and not just a delayed status message update causing the properties to be inaccurate? Thanks...

The version number won't change. R2 and R3 are feature packs in technical terms. Have you closed and reopened your console? Also, given that this is a new issue, you should always open a new thread otherwise no-one except the original responders will know you added anything here.
