New List Item can't be created and existing list items can't be edited by certain users
Hello! We're running MOSS 2007 on a server farm and having a strange problem where certain users (and it switches from user to user) can't create new list items, or edit existing list items during certain parts of the day. When they select New Item or try to edit an item, the browser goes white as if it is loading the newform.aspx or editform.aspx but it just goes white and grinds away indefinitely. We're using Internet Explorer version 7.0.5730. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks! -Spaz

If this happens to a user does the issue persist with them? If I understand what you are explaining I would suspect something up with timeouts or server resources. I'd be interested to see if an iisreset or server restart may clear it up. Another interesting troubleshooting step would be to try it with another browser to just see if the issue persists.

Hey, Chris. I can't use any other browser as Firefox shows a DNS error when I go to the site. We're in a Federal Agency that only supports IE so that may be why. Any other browsers you'd recommend? The problem only persists for a while with each user. For example, I can't make new items or edit items in the morning, but it becomes easier (faster) throught the afternoon. Sounds like a performance issue to me, like you mentioned. Thanks, Spaz

You might have tight controls on server outrages then as well, but I would still try the iisreset or reboot the server. Just to see if something on the server/app pools is causing it.

Thanks, Chris. We're working on the problem now. Looks like we don't have enough memory in the app pools. Considering our architecture, and the service expectations, this may be a recurring issue. Thanks! -Spaz
