Hi,

Based on the user size and site usage metrics we have to define the SharePoint server topology.

You need to get to know the site usage metrics and user size before deciding anything. Please follow the technet article to get to know more.

Hi Ashane,

Yes, SharePoint could be used for documents/files sharing enside company, also you can manage the file and permissions.

It would be better to use another particualr domain as SharePoint Administrator account and also create other service accounts.

Here are two posts about SharePoint document management and accounts plan, you can take a look.

Hi,

It will work without any issues.

If you are preparing this server for your development purpose you can install SQL and SharePoint on same server.

If you are preparing for UAT or Production environment, better go with different server to install SharePoint and SQL.

Please follow the below URL which helps you to build and size farm topology.

Thank you for the link you supplied. I need to know another question, How about if I install SQL Express in another server and sharepoint in another server. I don't have much users, and this is for a file sharing purpose. There's no lot of data. Can i change my SQL Express to SQL Server if I need to expand Database size later?

Thank you,

Hello Ashane,

You can start with SQL Express and later change to SQL Server. You will need to backup restore all the databases from SQLExpress to SQL Server later.

Also, please make sure to use SQL Alias instead of using SQL Server / Express name when installing SharePoint. Making use of alias would provide flexibility in changing Database server. You would only need to change SQL Server instance in SQL Alias.

Thanks,

Ved

Hello Ashane,

After you install SharePoint 2013, you will create a Site in that.

In the site, you create document libraries where you or the users from your organization will upload documents. Based on the access, one or more users will be able to see/edit the documents.

Thanks,

Ved
