Network problem, can't get any internet connection working after install windows 10 update from 8.1 on my Asus Transformer AIO p1801

Hi,

I just recently updated my computers (Asus Transformer AIO p1801) and (Acer Aspire 8942G) to use windows 10.

I faced a problem with my network connections after update. My network connections folder is empty, my network list is empty, Network & Internet page, no wlan and ethernet tabs. I downloaded latest drivers for my ethernet (Realtek) and wlan (QualComm) adapters, still no luck. Drivers says, working correctly but no network access. I also removed any firewalls and antivirus programs and nothing changed.

I also tried to connect via my Samsung Galaxy S5, sharing network via bluetooth and usb. I got bluetooth connection working correctly , but no any devices shown on network adapters and no internet connections still.

I tried to search this problem thru web and tried several things to fix this issue, but no luck for now.

Asus Transformer AIO P1801 is my work computer and I need internet to do my job, so this is really urgent issue.

On my laptop, Acer Aspire 8942G, after updating to Windows 10, everything working correctly and internet connections too.

Can anyone please help me or point me direction where I can get help to my issue, any help would be appreciated.

Can you look in Device Manager to see if any of your network adapters show to have a problem?

Hi, thanks for quick reply.

I did check device manager and there I can't find any problem shown. It seem really mystery why this happens. I have real computer expert who now a lot of computers, but he couldn't help me either. All the devices says, working correctly.

You're not the only one seeing network adapter issues.  If I find someone has a resolution, I'll post back.

Hello again..

I tried also Network troubleshooter, identify and repair network problems but it couldn't find any solutions.

Also i can't find Airplane mode selection on Network & Internet page also.

A few others have mentioned VPN clients as the 'potential' culprit; this is NOT confirmed though.  Not sure if this applies to your situation. Still looking for confirmed resolutions; none so far.

I tried to on command prompt,

route print

Interface list show only 1 result,

1............................................... Software Loopback Interface 1

and there should be something like this also

10...08 00 31 11 23 23 ......Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller

I tried also software called NetAdapter Repair All In One,

there on Network Adapter list was only Loopback Pesudo-Interface 1 and there should be listed both network adapters but no. It seems that there is some major issue with windows 10 and drivers, all seems working corretly, but none of applications can't see those Network Adapters at all.

When I check on Device Manager under Network Adapters there is 4 options there.

Bluetooth-Device (private)

Bluetooth-device (RFCOMM-protocoll TDI)

Wireless Qualcomm Atheros AR946X - Network Adapter

Realtek PCIe GBE - family driver

I have tested several drivers for both of adapters, but non of them helped!

Even AsusSetup which suppose to update drivers says, Can't find realtek network adapter, if it's in deep sleep mode, please plug the cable, and yes. My cable is pluged and 100% tested that it works.

I am getting frustrated with this issue, is it reason of Asus, Realtek, Qualcomm or Microsoft? :(

Tried ipconfig /renew and ipconfig /release

Result:

The operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation. So no help with that

Same problem.

I also have Realtek PCIe GBE family adapter onboard on my ASUS p8z77-v LK motherboard. There isn't any network adapters after upgrading from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10 Pro. Network adapter's page in control panel -> Network is empty, but in device manager they are present: Realtek GBE, VmWare virtual adapters and one from OpenVPN. Reinstall driver procedure fails with timeout.

I rolled back to Win 8.1.

I just rolled back to Windows 8.1 after having the exact same problem. I do have the Cisco VPN Client installed. Will uninstall and try again tomorrow.

How did you roll back, I show no restore points after Upgrade? I did the install with Cisco VPN installed.

Problem solved after uninstalling Cisco VPN Client before upgrade to Windows 10.

I Have Cisco VPN Client installed also, tried to unistall it on W10 but I got this:

Error 27850. Unable to manage networking component. Operating system corruption may be preventing installation.

I think that causes the problem but I really don't want to roll back just to unistall Cisco and install W10 again.

Is there any other solution to uninstall Cisco?

I recommend you to go back to the previous version of Windows (see rsieler's comment in this thread), uninstall Cisco VPN, reboot and upgrade to W10 again.

I am experiencing the same issue. I installed W10 over W8.1 on Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga. I also had Cisco VPN Client. I removed it and tried upgrading again. The problem did not go away. I rolled back to W8.1

Are there any other applications which may affect on network working? For example: third party antivirus, firewall, hypervisors with virtual adapters or other vpn solutions. Try to uninstall them all. :)

This usually indicates you have a static IP address set.

I had the same problem on my Asus Q550LF laptop. I installed several different drivers, and nothing worked, so I wound up rolling back to Windows 8.1.

First, I uninstalled the Cisco VPN client that I had.

Then I went to the support section of the ASUS website, input my laptop model number, and downloaded the Qualcomm Atheros Wireless Lan Driver and Application (this may vary, depending on what wireless adapter you have) from the Wireless section under Driver & Tools. NOTE: there were no wireless drivers available when I selected Windows 10 as my Operating System, so I chose Windows 8.1, and downloaded that driver.

Next, I uninstalled the Qualcomm Atheros Client Installation Program from my computer, and then I unistalled my wireless adapter and totally deleted the driver info from Device Manager. At that point, I had no internet connectivity in Windows 8.1.

Finally, I rebooted, installed the new driver, rebooted again, and updated to Windows 10 again. Now everything works fine!

Good luck. I hope this is helpful to others.

I found the same problem when I installed the antivirus application. Once I uninstalled it, everything worked again. I saw this happen in 3 separate laptops that I upgraded to W10 Pro.

What was the AV application and what version?  Great to post this information so others who might have the same issue know.  Thanks!

Espe,

You mentioned in your initial post that you performed a successful Win 10 upgrade of your Acer Aspire 8942G.  I have been searching the net for someone who has attempted that. I had a bad experience updating a Dell Optiplex so I was hesitant to do the same with my Acer Aspire when I discovered, although the laptop passes the MS  Win 10 ready test, the 8942G is not on the list of Acer Win10 supported devices. Could you share some of your experience updating the laptop?

Were you able to perform the Win 10 install using the Windows update process or were you forced to perform a clean install? Did you do any out of the ordinary preparation of the pc before doing the update? Any errors along the way, reboot hangs? Any problems with drivers? Many people with Acer computers have reported problems with the touchpad drivers. Any audio issues? The last drivers available for this laptop are the Windows 7 drivers. Did the update retain the original Windows 7 drivers, did it install more current ones, or did you have to find and download your own? Did the update retain the Acer Windows factory restore partitions so that if you decided that Win 10 wasn't for you, you could restore the original condition of your laptop. Were all your applications retained? I expect that they may not necessarily all work, but I expect that they would all still be installed.
