Network Folder to Sharepoint
What are the steps that I would perform to map a shared network drive to a sharepoint folder? Is this possible? Thanks, Dave

Yes, you can, you need to enable webclient. Refer here : http://forums.techarena.in/networking-security/1209550.htm Thanks, ~Uday, http://www.mstechblogs.com/sharepoint

I am using XP and was able to follow your directions Aseem. Thank you. Is it now possible to scan documents to the network place I created and have them automatically show up in the Sharepoint folder?

I have done a few installations that scan docs into SharePoint libraries. A couple of thoughts: 1. Unless you use a third party scanning solution intended for SharePoint, metadata will not automatically be captured along with your scans and will have to input manually. 2. If you are scanning these into the Acrobat (PDF) format, be sure to scan in "text and graphics" mode", otherwise, textual data in your scans will not be indexable by SharePoint search using the iFilter. If you choose graphics mode alone, you will never receive any document contents in your search engines other than externally applied metadata.
