Network Computer shows on everyone's computer but mine (their computers do show on mine)

So 3 of us are all running Windows 8.1 Pro, one of the computers is even identical to mine. When I have the Wifi on I find I do not see my fathers computer on the network to enable me to transfer files back and forth to him. His computer does however show on everyone elses computer. I am able to see and connect and transfer to the other 2 computers so its an issue specifically between my comp and his. I have remoted into his computer before using his IP but i would like to be able to access it from the menu in windows file explorer.

Thank you!

Do you have auto discovery turned on?  Is he sharing the folder you want to transfer data to?

How would I turn on auto-dicovery? No there is not an immediate need to have him show up I just would like the option to do it if I can. I use it more for the remote desktop feature then I do the sharing of files.

Yes Network discovery was turned on before and that did not do anything to enable his computer to show up. How do I set my computer to ensure my stuff is only available on this network and not if I say go to a friend house and jump on his comp.

Also still unable to find his computer under my list :(. Thank you for everyones help so far!

Hi,

What's the edition of yours and your father's computer operating system?

Make sure these two computer all connect to the same network and turning on the network discovery.

More information, please read this guide:

Why can't I see other computers on my network?

Windows creats a separate network profile for each network you use. You could set for each profile.

My dad is on windows 7. Me, my wife and my mothers 2 computers all run 8.1. I am the only one that he doesnt show up on which is where it is confusing. Everyone else shows up on my screen and he shows up on theirs. I think I mentioned before my wifes computer is Identical to mine and he showed up on hers right out of the box (she just bought it a few days ago.
