Need some help with SCCM discovory
Hello everyone, I'm deploying SCCM over my network for a pilot test. now here are some problems im facing with it and i wish you could help me out with it: 1. the network discovery is not working. all other discovery methods are fine accept that. now i have two VLANs and network discovery is the right choice for me. now i did enable it, added the sub networks , tried it with and without DHCP configuration. still nothing ,so what am i missing it looks very straight forward but its not working ! 2. will Windows 2008 Core be supported in SP2 ? because i have 3 servers ruining windows CORE thank you Haitham

When you say another domain I assume you mean in a seperate forest? Again I never use network discovery so I am not the best person to help you with this but I did some research and found a couple of things. You may want to look at the network discovery log to see if clients are being found but no ddr generated because some condition isn't being met. Network Discovery will create a DDR for a resource only if it can positively determine the resource's subnet mask or Active Directory site. The subnet mask can be determined if the following conditions are met: The client's IP address is listed in a trusted router's ARP cache, and the router has only a single IP address on that interface. The client has a Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) agent running, and Network Discovery is configured to use the community name the client is configured for. The client is a Microsoft Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) client. Note The site server computer account must have domain user credentials in the same domain as the DHCP server. I have to agree with John note about Network Discovery it is strait quote from the Docs., Network discovery has lots of dependencies, as John listed. And yes Core is supported. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/library/ee344146.aspx What information are you still looking for? http://www.enhansoft.com/

What part of it was not answered? Normally if there's no new posts in a question for a couple of days we figure it's been answered.John Marcum | http://www.TrueSec.com/en/Training.htm | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum
